This is a note that I, Calvin, wanted to share with you, my InsideOut group. These are some of the things that were on my mind, brought a smile to my face, fascinated me about the wonders of our world, or gave me the motivation to make the most of today. I hope you enjoy it.

A show to make you laugh, a look to the past, and how to have quiet time.

A stroll around the big house.

I don’t know if it’s the cars, like the 1963 Corvette that Jerry pulls up in this episode, the conversations, or the coffee (probably all three) but this show has me hooked. Catch his conversation with Obama on this episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee here.
Also, a great way to kill some time if it feels like time is standing still.

A structure for quiet time.

Taking the time before the sun rises, before everyone wakes up to spend time with God has been the single most transformative thing for my life, my faith, and my relationships — I can’t recommend it enough. Meanwhile, quiet time is one of those things people mention here and there, but no-one really talks about how to do it or what they do.

There is a simple structure I want to share that will help you get started if you’ve never done it before, or if your quiet time hasn’t really led to anything or you feel distant from God. It’s called the Thirsty 30.

10 minutes of prayer (you don’t need to talk the whole time, maybe listen a bit.)
10 minutes of reading the Word
10 minutes of worship

That’s it. You have 48 half-hours in your day. You spend about 16 of those sleeping, that leaves 32 left. Spend ONE of them with God, and I promise you won’t regret it.
